tenets of mindfulness

what is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is an ancient practice rooted in Buddhism, and other spiritual disciplines originating in the East, most often defined as observation without judgment.

Observing what is, as it is arising, without judgement.

This state of awareness, focuses on the present, rather than being stuck in our stories of the past or worries of the future, neither of which we have any real control over.

A mindfulness practice brings clarity and objectivity to our thoughts, allowing one to deepen personal and spiritual relationships, with greater self-awareness and emotional resilience.

tenets of mindfulness

There are many methods to employ mindfulness. We work with key principles I have found to provide clients with tools and resources they can come away with for life.

  1. Nurture the Tenets of Mindfulness

  2. Self Awareness

  3. Defining Clear Goals

  4. Identification & Cognitive Reframing of Limiting Beliefs

  5. Measure Growth

realize your limitless potential

Intention creates awareness, awareness drives clarity and motivation. Establishing firm beliefs in who you are and what you want for yourself are the first steps.

We do the work to understand ourselves, so we can see how our learned beliefs and perceptions shape our emotions.

This allows us to show up and move through the world in alignment with our core values, imbuing empathy, tolerance and patience in our engagement with self and others.

With mindfulness practice, we have the opportunity to find greater peace with confidence in decision making when we stand in our truth, and grounded in self-regulation with thoughtful responses, rather than emotional reactions.

This kind of personal sovereignty is self-realization of your limitless potential for cultivating the life you want. You have the power to apply the tenets to simple every day goals, or manifest the big life changing stuff.

Every path is unique, and we regularly revisit your objectives to determine when you feel confident in managing your practice independently. Some  clients will choose to maintain their practice with regular support and accountability sessions, or pursue new goal setting endeavors.

what mindfulness is not

A mindfulness coach or practice can be complementary to, but is not a replacement for recommend clinical behavioral therapy or psychotherapy. Although rooted in sacred spiritual practices for centuries, mindfulness is not a religion. While meditation is one of the many tools for mindfulness practice, the two are not synonymous.

Mindfulness is also not a one-time fix. It is learned, but there is no mastery. It is called a practice for a reason. Life will still bring its challenges, we will still feel emotions, the difference a mindfulness practice makes is the ability to navigate the ebb and flow of life in your grace.
